Training/Teaching :: Understanding and Communicating in
the
Multi-Generational Workplace
Effective communication in the
workplace is an essential tool, not only for managers and
leaders, but for all of us. We accomplish our work, build
our working relationships and develop our careers - all
through communication!' And, that communication must be
built on a foundation of understanding.
Today's
workplace is a diverse and complex place. Understanding who is in that workplace and how
best to work with or for them, is a key skill. One of the
important ways we can understand that diversity and use it
to enhance our own communication is through understanding
the generations at work.
Cross Wise offers a variety of
entertaining and informative workshops (from one hour
presentations to full-day interactive workshops) designed to
help participants understand:
-
Why
understanding the wants/needs of each generation is
helpful.

-
Who
makes up each of these generations - i.e. what were
the key influences in their lives? What are their
core values? What are they like to work with or for?
What their popular culture says about them?

-
What
are the key communication needs of each generation?

-
What
can each generation do more or less of to be a more
effective communicator with other generations?
-
What do you
need to do for each generation to "get 'em, grow 'em,
and keep 'em (otherwise known as recruitment,
development and retention).
-
How
communicators can use this knowledge to become more
effective coaches and advisors to their clients, as well
as to build more comprehensive and informed
communication strategies.
Workshops are
designed not only to share information, but also to engage participants in active
discussion about their own communication wants and needs,
and to build understanding among the groups.
