Embracing Your Multi-Generational Workforce

Effective communication in the workplace is essential, not only for managers and leaders, but for everyone. We accomplish our work, build relationships and develop our careers all through communicating. In order to be effective, communication begins with a foundation of mutual understanding.

Today's workplace is diverse and complex. Understanding who is in the workplace and how best to work with or for them is a key skill. The way to improve our communication is through understanding the generations at work.

Cross Wise offers a variety of entertaining and informative workshops (from one-hour presentations to full-day interactive workshops) to help participants not only understand, but also embrace, the multi-generational diversity in their workplace. Topics covered include:

	Why understanding the wants/needs of each generation is helpful.
	Who makes up each generation - i.e. what were the key influences in their lives? What are their core values? What are they like to work with or for? What does popular culture say about them?
	What are the key communication needs of each generation?
	What can each generation do more or less of to be a more effective communicator with other generations?
	What do you need to do for each generation to "get'em, grow'em and keep'em"? (recruitment, development and retention).
	Option for communicators - how to use this knowledge to become more effective coaches and advisors to your clients and to build more comprehensive and informed communication strategies.
	A reading list and additional resources.

Workshops not only share information, they engage participants in discussion about their own communication wants and needs and build understanding among the generational groups. Longer workshops include customized exercises, case studies and situations from the client participant group. Commitment to behaviour change and action is central to every workshop.
